EZ Delts,
It is a very exciting time to be a Sam Houston State Delt. We are about to build a new Delt house!!! The Joe M. MacKenzie Delta Tau Delta house!!!
In case you have been out of the loop, in the early 2000's we sold the Delt house by the fairgrounds, and in 2005 we bought a top notch tract of land closer to campus. For the past few years we have been ironing out the details of how to best approach a new house, and we are ready to roll. We have construction ready plans for a 4700 sq ft ranch that will sleep 6. It is a very impressive layout and it is hard not to get excited when you look at the plans.
If you haven't been to Sam in a while, I suggest you take the time to get up there to meet some of the current undergrads. They are a great group of guys, their grades are up, their sports teams are doing great, and they are heavily involved in the community & school. I met a good group of them at Murski's the night before Homecoming this past year and I walked away very proud of who is wearing our letters today.
I want you to take a moment to think about what it would have been like to be at Sam and not have a house. I can't even imagine. It will make you gain even more respect for the undergrads and how they have maintained our top reputation on campus. Now take a moment and think of as many "remember-when good-time stories" of the times you spent at whichever Delt House you lived in. I think you will quickly get on board. It's time to build!!!
Well we have an opportunity in front of us today to do something monumental for our chapter...build a NEW house!!! There is no doubt we will get support from our older alums as they have always done, but this effort is going to take more than just them. In order to guarantee success we need to pull from all age groups and all pledge classes.
We have a substantial amount of momentum behind us right now and we can't let the momentum stop. If we don't build now we might as well kiss the idea good bye, but I know we won't let that happen.
I suggest getting involved and contributing to a part of EZ history.
January 9, 2010 we will celebrate Epsilon Zeta's 50th anniversary at SHSU. Lets go big and celebrate with a new house.
Let's build a "Doorway of Opportunity."
