- We are about to build a new DTD House
- The Joe M. MacKenzie Delta Tau Delta House
- We are asking every alumni to give a lump sum donation of $1000
- Our goal is to raise $220k
- We have 900+ SHSU Delt Alumni on record
- We won't start construction until we have $220k in the bank
- Before "formally" starting the campaign, we have +$70k pledged
- We own 1.82 acres
- The address is 267 Bearkat Blvd
- The land is very close to campus and is considered "Fraternity Row"
- There are 12 IFC fraternities at SHSU now
- 4 own land there (not necessarily a house)
- 5 have some sort of house/shelter somewhere
- History
- 90's, DTD had 2 loans against the house by the fairgrounds
- Ron Mafrige donated $60,000 to pay off one loan and asked that we name the house after our late brother Joe M. MacKenzie
- The house and land were later sold for $50,000
- In 2005, we bought 1.82 acres for our new house for $36,000
- We have finalized construction ready plans for a new house.
- 6 bedroom 4700 sq ft house
- 3000 living space + 800 hall + 600 porch + 300 storage
- Cost Estimate : $450,000
- Budgeting around $100 per sq ft to be on the safe side
- Expect to build for less plus we already have alumni who have offered to donate some building materials, etc.
- We will take out a 20 year note with Nationals for what we don't raise
